Rory Green will be racing with WDE Motorsports again next season. Balancing his studies with racing, Green hopes to improve on his fifth place best finish in the Renault Clio Cup series last season.
The twenty one year old made his debut the series last year with the Ashford based team, scoring points in all but two of the races. This year, he plans on being a front runner.
“I’m very happy to be back with WDE,” Green said. “I learnt a lot with them in 2015 and as my confidence in the car grew the results and lap times kept on improving. I hope I can put that to good use and hit the ground running when the new season starts at Brands Hatch.”
“It’s great to have Rory back on board for 2016,” WDE Team Principal Wayne Eason said. “We knew all along that when it clicked for Rory it would really click and things certainly started to gel very nicely for him in the second half of the 2015 season. I predict he will come back strongly and with a lot more assertiveness in 2016 as a result of everything he learnt last year.”
Green’s university exams mean he will miss the Donington Park and Thruxton events, but will be back on the track in June at Oulton Park.
“I am sure he [Green] is in for some very competitive outings,” Renaultsport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager, Will Fewkes, added. “It is heart-warning, too, to see WDE continuing their solid reputation for nurturing talent. Likewise, their plans falling into place have clearly demonstrated in 2015 that they are capable of challenging for pole positions, race wins, and the title.”
WDE have also said they’re close to announcing their other drivers, with an announcement expected in the coming weeks.
