Ross Martin steps up to MSA Formula

Formula Kart Stars Champion, Ross Martin, will be stepping up to the MSA Formula with Fortec Motorsport.

Martin has already started testing with Fortec, claiming the second-fastest time at Valencia in Spain.

“There’s no other thing like it at any level in British motorsport,” Martin said of the MSA Championship. “The MSA and Ford have put together a great championship with phenomenal drivers. We all know what an incredible brand Ford is and the 1.6 litre EcoBoost engine it supplies is fantastic.”

Though winning the Formula One backed championship earned the Scot the opportunity to drive in the series, and he doesn’t need to seek sponsorship for the seat, Martin said it would be “nice to get more sponsors on board”, but that isn’t a focus of the year.

“I’m looking forward to working with Fortec,” Martin said of his new team. “It is a championship winning team. The test in Valencia was a great way to get to know everyone.”

Formula Kart Stars chairman, Carolynn Hoy, is sure Martin will represent the series perfectly.

“We have a worthy champion here. A very able driver. After his first test with Fortec, he’s already showing he’s got great potential for 2016 and beyond. He’s going to be carrying the torch for us and I’m certain he will be an excellent ambassador for the series.”

The announcement came at Autosport International Show this weekend.
