Following a meeting with Team BKR’s team owner, Warren Scott, Kieran Gallagher will be racing in the BTCC B-TEC series for the BMR run team.
Gallagher, who raced last year for the RCIB Insurance Racing team in the main series, has been trying to raise funds to continue racing. Now, with sponsors in place, the Scot will be turning to the development series.
Though Gallagher hopes to return to the BTCC in the future, he is excited about the one year deal he has signed with BKR.
“I knew as soon as I read about this series that it would be a wise move for me,” he said. “I am keen to continue my progress in NGTC machinery and what better way for me to move forward than with the help of Team BKR.”
“I cannot wait to get out in the car now and begin testing, to be given a chance to pilot a proved BTCC race winning car is a real privilege and an opportunity I will make the most of.”
Gallagher will be piloting the NGTC spec Volkswagen CCs, driven in last years BTCC by Colin Turkington and Aron Smith.
The Scot is the first driver to be secured for Team BKR’s B-TEC series campaign, and team manager Nico Ferrari is delighted with the signing.
“I’ve been keen from the start to have a recent BTCC driver on our team, to have one from just last season is superb!”
“Kieran has a massive social media presence which is really exciting, we’re already talking about some great initiatives to welcome his huge fanbase to our team and continue building his profile, preparing him for a strong return to the BTCC which I have no doubt is in the pipeline.”
Stay tuned in the coming days for an exclusive interview with Gallagher.
