Nicolai Kjaergaard will be making his first step into racing cars this year as he joins Fortec Motorsports’ MSA Formula squad.
The sixteen year old started racing karts aged nine and has finished in the top ten of a number of series, including 6th in the 2013 and 2014 German Kart Championships.
“I am delighted to have signed for Fortec in MSA Formula and I am really excited about my maiden season in cars,” he said. “I feel really at home with Fortec and see the team as playing a key part in my development during the season. I know it will be a really tough championship but I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
Kjaergaard tested for Fortec during the winter, and promising signs then prompted the team to help him make his debut in cars.
“He learned and adapted quickly,” said team manager Dan Mitchell. “Importantly, he really showed he can be on the pace. He’s gone away over January and February to work on a few things including his fitness, but if he puts the work in over the remaining winter months he can be a really good driver and someone to watch out for this season. There’s no reason why Nicolai cannot run at the front.”
