Ginetta star Zelos moves to Clio Cup

Seventeen year old Dan Zelos will be jumping in the Ciceley Motorsport car today after signing for the team yesterday. Zelos will join Ollie Pidgley for the 2016 Clio Cup season.

Zelos has spent the past two years competing in the Ginetta Junior championship, testing in a Clio Cup car last year.

“I fell in love with it straight away,” said Zelos. “It’s like a mini touring car and it was really smooth and easy to drive . I felt like I ‘clicked’ with it pretty quickly. It has more power than I’ve been accustomed to before and I’ve got to get used to front wheel-drive and slick tyres for the first time, so there’s definitely a learning curve ahead of me, but it feels like a very natural progression and I can’t wait to get going.”

Ciceley is aiming for the win this season, but Zelos says the team hasn’t put him under any pressure for his rookie season.

“We recognised Dan’s potential in Ginetta, and that potential was confirmed when he drove our car in December,” said Adam Morgan, who will help oversee Zelos and team mate’s Pidgley’s development in the Clio Cup. “He has fought at the front in every championship he has entered, and he will undoubtedly be one to watch over the coming seasons.”
