New comer Harry Hayek is aiming for the big prize in his first season in the MSA Formula. The Australian teenager has signed to race with Jamun Racing, moving his career from the Australian Formula 4 championship last season to the UK championship.
The Australian championship uses the same Ford-powered Mygale car as the MSA Formula, giving Hayek an advantage he hopes to turn into wins early on in the season.
“The biggest challenge will be going over to the UK and living by myself,” said the 17 year old.
“The ultimate goal is to win the championship. It’s definitely an advantage to have raced the car before in Austraia so I learnt a lot about set-up and can take that into Ford MSA Formula this year.”
Hayek started karting in 2012, winning two Australian Senior State titles in 2014. Last year, he graduated to car racing, finishing a respectable fourth in the Australian Formula 4 championship.
Hayek will race alongside Ginetta Junior champion Jamie Caroline.
“We are very excited to have signed Harry, he did very well in the Australian series last year,” said Jamun Racing team manager James Mundy. “We’ve got a strong line-up with Jamie and Hary, who complement each other well.”
