Michelin returns to the UK Clio Cup

The UK Clio Cup racers will be strapping Michelin tyres onto their cars once again, with the French tyre manufacturer returning to the series in 2017.

Michelin will supply the tyres for the series next year, bringing the Renault UK Clio Cup more in line with the rest of the Renault series across the Europe.

The slick tyres, S9D, and wet weather tyres, P2G, will be used next season.

“We look forward tremendously to providing teams and drivers with our trademark expert series – including technical support – and also greater performance on the track in terms of lap time and longevity,” said Tim Hoare, Michelin’s UK Motorsport Manager. “The UK Clio Cup’s profile and dramatic racing also provides Michelin with a very exciting arena with which to further engage with huge number of racing enthusiasts.”

2017 will be the first year the Michelin tyres will be seen on the new “fourth generation” cars in the UK, with Dunlop supplying the series from 2013 to 2016.

“We very much welcome Michelin back to the UK Clio Cup paddock,” Jeremy Townsend, Communication Director at Renault UK. “We and a number of our teams have always remained close with its technical personnel these past four years so we know they will immediately feel right at home.”

Michelin will also supply tyres to the new junior championship.
