Team HARD’s Mike Epps is aiming to take podiums in his second season in the British Touring Car Championship.
The Hemel Hempstead born driver will continue with Team HARD, having secured the seat earlier in the winter break.
Epps took multiple points finishes last season, but only finished inside the top ten once. This year, though, he’s aiming higher.
“I think a podium has got to happen,” Epps said. “It’d be good to be on that step for something other than a Jack Sears trophy this time. A proper podium with a proper number… I’d say a podium and to have a good fight in the Independents and see how we do.”
Epps said he always intended to remain with the team he made his debut with, though he did look elsewhere, he revealed.
“It’s probably been the plan from the start,” he said. “There’s obviously lots of teams about and we did have a little branch out and talk to a few people and find out where the land lies, but Tony [Gilham] put the offer down and made it work.
“You couldn’t refuse it and it was the right timing and the right everything. Especially with the new VW CC coming in. I just thought “that’s got to be done, hasn’t it?”.”
Team HARD will once again run three cars in the 2017 season, and have announced that Will Burns will be joining the team, but are yet to announce Epps’ second teammate.
