Mexican star Sulaiman joins JHR Developments

Mexican racer Manuel Sulaiman will come to Britain to race in the inaugural Ford F4 Challenge Cup for JHR Developments.

The 16-year-old, who is currently leading the “rookie” category in Mexico’s F4 championship, will race alongside the already confirmed Billy Monger, but the pair won’t be competing in the same championship as Monger fights in the main championship.

“Racing for JHR Developments in the F4 British Championship Challenge Cup in 2017 is a dream come true for me,” said Sulaiman. “We share the same philosophy and a common passion for winning, and I am sure that, through hard work and determination, we can score some great results throughout the season.”

Sulaiman is currently sixth in the overall Mexican championship, with two overall podiums to his name. With the final three rounds of the championship clashing with rounds of the British championship, it’s unknown which series the teenager will prioritise.

“With what Manuel has achieved in karting and the potential he has shown in NACAM Formula 4, we have no doubt that he will soon get up-to-speed in British F4,” said team principal Steven Hunter. “And the Ford F4 Challenge Cup gives him the ideal platform from which to both learn the ropes and make a name for himself. We are all very much looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together this season.”
