Jade Edwards will compete in the Renault UK Clio Cup with Ciceley Motorsport this season.
After competing in GT Racing and featuring on the ITV driving show Drive, Edwards will switch to Renault Clios, something of a tradition in the Edwards household.
“Becoming the third generation of Edwards to race in the UK Clio Cup is a dream come true for my family, but it is also going to require a change of mindset from me after several seasons of endurance competition,”she said.
“Front wheel drive is something almost alien to me, but I did start my career in short sprint races like you get in Clios and, having watched the championship ever since my father became Champion, I know the type of racing involved. It is very intense but I’m really looking forward to it.”
Edwards is no stranger to the BTCC package. The 26-year-old worked for West Surrey Racing last season alongside her racing commitments.
Edwards is the fourth driver to be announced for the Ciceley line-up. She will share the garage with Max Coates, Luke Reade, and Sam Osborne.
“She immediately proved very rapid in her first test with us, and we’ve been working to get her on board ever since,” said team manager Adam Morgan. “Furthermore, Jade is terrific with sponsors and the fans and I believe she is going to surprise a lot of people with her pace and results.”
