Maximum Motorsport has confirmed Swedish driver Dennis Strandberg will join the team this weekend in Croft.
Strandberg will replace Josh Cook, who left the team when a seat became available at his former team MG.
“We are delighted to welcome Dennis to the BTCC,” said Stewart Lines, team principal. “We have worked with Dennis in recent years and we think he’s a really exciting prospect.
“At Maximum we pride ourselves on giving young driver a chance and we’re looking forward to seeing how Dennis gets on in our Ford Focus.”
Strandberg has never raced in the BTCC, but has a strong racing CV. He is currently seventh in the Swedish Touring Car Championship, and has also competed in the German touring cars, various Ginetta series, and the British GT.
Last year he completed a tyre test in the Ford Focus, where he said he’d never driven anything like it and he wanted to compete in the championship.
Now his wish will come true, but the BTCC new-comer is only confirmed for one round. It’s still unknown whether he will compete in the remainder of the season.
