Harper: Priaulx is feeling the pressure

Douglas Motorsport’s Dan Harper believes title rival Sebastian Priaulx is “feeling the pressure” after a frustrating weekend at Knockhill.

Harper, who is fourth in the championship, closed the gap to Priaulx from 53 points to just 29 with a strong performance at the Scottish track, whilst Priaulx could only finish sixth and seventh.

With only three rounds left, Harper is confident he can keep take the title fight down to the wire.

“I just need to keep going the way I am,” he told Overtake Motorsport.

“Seb’s feeling the pressure a bit now I think. He’s making quite a few errors himself so if we can just keep going to way we are then we’ll definitely be there come Brands Hatch.”

Priaulx has taken six wins so far this season, but hasn’t finished on the top step since before the summer break.

Tom Gamble and Kieren Jewiss have also closed the gap to the championship leader. Priaulx now only had a three point advantage to Gamble.

Harper was fastest in practice and qualifying, but couldn’t stay at the front of the field long enough to take a win at Knockhill. He admitted finishing third and second was frustrating, but is still pleased with the weekend’s results.

“When the pace is there and you know you can get the win, it’s quite frustrating, but it’s good points,” he said.

“I just need to keep moving forwards and the wins will come.”
