Power Maxed Racing’s Tom Chilton will not take part in the Silverstone round of the British Touring Car Championship next weekend.
Chilton has recently undergone a routine operation and advised by doctors to not race for four weeks, which includes the next round of the BTCC.
The 32-year-old is expected to be fit enough to take part in the season finale at Brands Hatch.
“It’s such a shame to miss the next races, but I have to follow the doctor’s orders,” he said.
“I’m gutted to miss Silverstone particularly as it’s one of my favourite tracks, but I will be back for Brands.”
Chilton is currently 14th in the standings with a best finish of third at Brands Hatch at the start of the season.
Power Maxed, which became a constructor with Vauxhall at the start of the year, is fourth in the constructors’ championship.
The team will announce Chilton’s replacement, who will race the Vauxhall Astra alongside rookie Senna Proctor, soon.
