Goff claims pole 0.001s ahead of Ingram

Jack Goff secured his second British Touring Car Championship pole of the season at Silverstone, just 0.001s ahead of Tom Ingram.

Goff jumped to the top of the times early and secured his position with multiple improvements throughout the session. Many of the improvements were later disallowed for exceeding track limits but Goff’s 58.653s lap was just enough to keep pole.

Ingram took second ahead of Mercedes driver Adam Morgan, who was only half a tenth of a second off Goff’s pole time.

Matt Neal qualified fourth ahead of Jake Hill, Rob Austin and rookie Ant Whorton-Eales.

Colin Turkington, who qualified eighth, was the highest of the championship contenders. Points leader Ashley Sutton took 10th behind Brett Smith whilst Gordon Shedden took 12th and Rob Collard 22nd.

Jason Plato, who qualified 11th, received a black flag for track limits infringements, as did Maximum Motorsport’s Stewart Lines.
