Team: Double R Racing
Comment: Lundqvist’s first season racing in the British Formula 4 got off to a rocky start, with mechanical problems plaguing the first half of the year. He retired four times in the opening two rounds, but, in the two races he finished, he took a win and a second place finish. His season levelled out with solid performances at Thruxton and Oulton Park before claiming two more wins at Croft.
Comment: Lundqvist’s inconsistent results continued into the second half of the season. Though he took two more wins, he was now out of the main championship fight and struggled with three more retirements.
Overall Grade: B-
Best moment of the season: A dominant victory in the final race before the summer break awarded Lundqvist his first double win of the season. Fastest in practice, fastest in qualifying, and already having won the first race of the weekend, Lunqvist lined up on pole for the final race at Croft. Starting alongside Jamie Caroline, Lundqvist made a perfect start as the championship leader fell backwards in a repeat of the start of race one. He gradually built up the gap to the rest of the field, finishing nearly six seconds ahead of Quinn in second. It solidified his third place int eh championship standigns heading into the summer break
Worst moment of the season: Lundqvist’s British Formula 4 campaign started with a triple retirement at Brands Hatch. He had been strong in testing and qualified fourth for the opening race, but turbo problems plagued him throughout the three races. He could only complete a handful of racing laps and left the Kent circuit disappointed.
