BTC Racing will use Honda machinery in 2018 despite an encouraging season with the Chevrolet Cruze.
They will use the Civic Type R, the same basic car that the works squad have used for the last three seasons.
“The move highlights the ambitions of the BTC Norlin Racing team to continue to invest in the BTCC and progress to become a regular fixture on the podium,” said Team Principal Bert Taylor.
“We wish to extend special thanks to Honda and Barry Plowman, Steve Neal and Matt Neal from Team Dynamics who gave us this unique opportunity to acquire world-class manufacturer machinery.”
This will hopefully bring about a change in fortunes for the fledgling team, which although it debuted in 2006, has struggled.
After entering the last two rounds in 2006 the team intended to run two Lexus IS200s the following year, but after three rounds ended up with just one car. Things didn’t get any better in 2008 when they changed to SEAT Toledos but had to miss several rounds as pockets weren’t deep enough.
That winter they flew south and stayed away quite a long time, six years in fact. They returned in 2014 under the Power Maxed Racing banner but were still lacking results.
However, last year they steadied their ship and finally achieved some results, with Dave Newsham taking their first podium in the penultimate round at Silverstone.
