Jorge Martin claims his 10th pole position ahead of his championship rival, Aron Canet in Austin, Texas for the AmericasGP.
Martin, the fastest man in free practice, stunned with a superb 2.18.629 lap at a damp, dirty Circuit of the Americas, claiming an impressive 10th pole position. Current championship leader, Canet, will start from second on the grid alongside John McPhee who put in an impressive 2019.421 lap time to get his CIP Green Power bike into third place. Tatsuki Suzuki will start from fourth with Argentina podium finisher, Fabio DiGianntoni, in fifth and Leopard Racing’s Enea Bastianini in sixth.
Dennis Foggia will start seventh from the third row with Ayumu Sasaki and Marco Bezzecchi for company. Bezzecchi was on track for a good start, topping the timings towards the end of the qualify until he exceeded track limits at turn 19, cancelling his lap time. Jaume Masia, Philipp Oettl and Gabriel Rodgrigo make up the fourth row. Oettl was looking strong throughout qualifying until he was called to box by his team with only 4 minutes left. Nakarin Atiratphuvapat lines up in 13th from the fifth row with Marco Ramirez in 14th and Darryn Binder in 15th.
A very lucky Andrea Migno will start the race in 16th. Migno suffered a high-speed crash in FP2 at turn 4 after briefly touching the kerb, thankfully he was able to walk away without any reported injuries.
Lorenzo Dalla Porta qualified in a disappointing 17th after going fastest in FP3 and rookie Makar Yurchenko will start in a decent 18th. Niccolò Antonelli, Tony Arbolino and veteran Jakub Kornfeil make up the seventh row for Sunday.
Alonso Lopez stars from a disappointing 22nd along with Nicolo Bulega in 23rd and Albert Arenas, who is still nursing a collarbone injury from Qatar, will start in 24th. Adam Norrodin and Livio Loi qualified in 25th and 26th ahead of Japanese riders Kazuki Masaki in 27th and Kaito Toba in 28th.
