It will see the Portuguese rider become the first rider to progress through the entire RedBull KTM project from RedBull Rookies Cup to MotoGP in 2019, there is still some speculation over who will join Olivera at Tech 3 next season, however Herve Poncharal speaking on Thursday to motogp.com stated that it is a very strong possibility that Syharin and Olivera line up could happen in 2019.
Miguel Olivera has had experience on the MotoGP KTM as he conducted a private test last season at Motorland Aragon alongside Mika Kallio in the summer break.
Miguel Olivera to MotoGP.com “It is very early in the season but I am really happy that KTM have seen enough from this year and the last to trust me and believe I deserve this opportunity in MotoGP,” I’m really thankful for that. I’ve always dreamed of MotoGP.”
“I had it as a goal and to be able to achieve that is something so positive. We still have a long Moto2 season ahead and the fact that this is already done allows me to relax and really focus on my riding.”
“I have been through all the steps that Red Bull and KTM have together since the Rookies Cup; I believe I’m the first. I think that shows other riders can trust in KTM and their project. I think I have the skills and the will to be able to perform well on a MotoGP bike.”
There are still plenty of more MotoGP seats up for grabs who will join Marc Marquez? What will Jorge Lorenzo do will he stay or will he go? Will Andrea Dovizioso keep his name as “Desmo Dovi” or will he seek new challenges?
