Ducati have today announced that they have promoted Danilo Petrucci to their factory setup alongside Andrea Dovizioso.
This news come fresh from the top six ride Petrucci managed in Mugello. It also means that there will be a full Italian presence in the Ducati team for the only the second time, as he follows the recently signed Dovizioso in extending his stay on the Bologna factory bike, albeit now on the works team. This is confirmation that Jack Miller will therefore stay with Pramac on a GP19, as he alluded to recently.
Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna recently seemed to confirm that Petrucci was going to make the step up, when he said ‘if he continues this way, he deserves a factory bike‘, but now it is official. Miller will partner the Moto2 graduate Francesco Bagnaia, who will get a GP18 for his first season in the premier class.

This will surprisingly be the only the second ever time that Ducati have had two Italian riders under one roof since they joined the MotoGP paddock in 2003, does this mean that they will have a better understanding, or will this create tension as both riders jostle to be the number one rider?
