In an announcement this morning Team HARD have announced that the 2017 Renault Clio Cup champion, Mike Bushell is staying with the team for the 2019 season in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Bushell has had a strong latter half of the season, with a very good showing at Silverstone which must have helped him gain his new contract with the team. He managed to gain 2 points finishes from the 3 races at Silverstone, with his best finish being 7th in the first race of the day, and top the standings in free practice. Earlier in the season, Bushell has managed many impressive finishes, including a 5th place at Brands Hatch and two 6th place finishes at Rockingham. This has allowed him to get up to 22nd in the points standings, which he will hope to better in the 2019 season.
Bushell hasn’t had a consistent teammate this season with Ollie Pidgley, who has done three rounds this season at Rockingham, Knockhill, and Silverstone. Pidgley’s best finish was 20th in the first race of the day at Silverstone.
Team Principal Tony Gilham was ecstatic with tying Bushell down to a new contract by calling him “an unbelievable talent” in an interview confirming the new contract with BTCC.
Also, Bushell has confirmed Fox Transport as a new sponsor for 2019, so things are looking good for the team for next season. This will allow Bushell to make some developments that may not have been possible if it wasn’t for the new sponsor. This could allow him to make a great start to next season, and get a lot more points finishes.
With the contract signed, Bushell will now turn his full focus towards the last round of the season at Brands Hatch, where he will be hoping to have a strong end, to what has been a very successful campaign for him.
