Timmy Hansen is the top qualifier at the end of the first day of the World RX of Catalunya.
Timmy Hansen continues his unbeatable form from Abu Dhabi to lead the overnight qualifying standings at round two of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Hansen put together three fastest laps in Q2 to top the table a second time, three seconds quicker than in Q1.
Championship leader, Kevin Hansen sits second overnight behind older brother Timmy in the second Team Hansen MJP. Timur Timerzyanov was the next best after a dominant win in his Q1 race and a good run in Q2.
Looking to salvage championship points, Andreas Bakkerud is the first of the Monster Energy RX Cartel in fourth. Krisztian Szabo, another of the Audi S1’s won race three in Q2 to put himself fifth overnight. Cyril Raymond and Janis Baumanis sit below Szabo in the overnight standings.
Guerlain Chicherit and Niclas Gronholm had been close in both Q1 and Q2 races. Timo Scheider took a Q2 race win and is tenth overnight ahead of Rokas Baciuska. In the final semi-final position at the end of the first day is Liam Doran.
With work to do tomorrow is Tamas Karai, Guillaume De Ridder, Christopher Hoy, Jani Paasonen, Oliver Bennett, Anton Marklund, and Herve Knapick. Marklund was unable to start Q1 after problems on the grid but went on to win in Q2. Knapick suffered a roll in Q1 which put him out of Q2. Whilst Bennett also had problems in Q1 which saw him score a non-finish.
