Valterri Bottas has snatched pole position for the British Grand Prix.
Ferrari appeared to have the fastest car in the first two qualifying sessions but both Mercedes upped their game when it came to Q3.
Bottas took pole ahead of Hamilton but only by 0.06s. Charles Leclerc was third fastest and he only missed on pole position by 0.079s.
The Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly were fourth and fifth fastest. Gasly has put on an improved showing so far this weekend after the team instructed him to use Verstappen’s set up going forward.
Sebasitan Vettel had a difficult time in qualifying and he ended up in sixth, over half a second off Bottas’ fastest time.
Daniel Ricciardo claimed “best of the rest” spot in seventh while Lando Norris once again got a top ten position with the eighth fastest time.
Alex Albon was ninth fastest ahead of the Renault of Nico Hulkenberg in tenth.
Antonio Giovinazzi just missed out on the top ten and will start 11th ahead of his teammate Kimi Raikkonen.
Carlos Sainz had a difficult session ending up 13th fastest while Romain Grosjean and Sergio Perez were 14th and 15th.
Kevin Magnussen failed to make it out of Q1 and will line up 16th on the grid ahead of the Toro Rosso of Danil Kvyat.
Lance Stroll was 18th fastest ahead George Russell and Robert Kubica in the Williams.
