Toyota’s Tom Ingram topped the only pre-season test at Silverstone, ahead of Jake Hill by just 0.051s.
Ingram topped the time sheets with a 1:06.171s around the International Circuit, which will host BTCC racing for the first time on the weekend of 26/27 September.
The test took place behind closed doors after TOCA banned spectators due to the Covid-19 pandemic currently sweeping the country.
Hill topped the morning session, but ended up setting the second fastest time just 0.051s behind Ingram in the MB Motorsport Honda Civic FK2.
2019 Championship contender, Dan Cammish, finished the day with the third fastest time in his Halfords Yuasa Racing Honda Civic FK8 having set a time of 1:06.490s.
On his return to Motorbase Performance, Rory Butcher set a time of 1:06.612s putting him fourth just ahead of reigning champion Colin Turkington, setting a time of 1:06.685s for Team BMW.
Senna Proctor, making his debut for Excelr8 Motorsport, set the sixth fastest time, a 1:06.780s and new team mate Chris Smiley set the tenth fastest time, a 1:06.997s showed the potential the new-for-2020 Hyundai i30.
2013 Champion Andrew Jordan set the seventh fastest time for Team BMW, a 1:06.827s, just ahead of 2005, ’06 and ’11 Champion Matt Neal who’s time of 1:06.925s.
Laser Tools Racing’s Ash Sutton put his Infiniti Q50 into ninth with a time of 1:06.968s.
Attempts to reschedule the first three events at Donington, Brands Hatch and Silverstone (National) will be confirmed once sporting events resume in the UK.
Thruxton is scheduled to take place on the weekend of 16/17 May.
