Tom Blomqvist wins round two of the World RX Esports series in Hell, Norway.
The GT driver drove a clean race to take the win ahead of the two semi-final winners, Timmy Hansen and Shane Van Gisbergen. He was the only driver to beat Van Gisbergen last time out in Abu Dhabi. Blomqvist had finished semi-final one in fifth place but five second penalties for Kevin Hansen, Martin Enlund and Sivert Svardal for contact promoted him to P2.
Hansen and Van Gisbergen shared the fastest times across the four qualifying session, Hansen fastest in Q1 and Q2 in the dry whilst Van Gisbergen was fastest in the wet conditions of Q3 and Q4. FIA World RX champion, Hansen, however was Top Qualifier and the win in semi-final one gave him pole position for the final. Van Gisbergen started alongside Hansen, with Blomqvist lining up in P3.
The New Zealander took his joker lap on lap one causing Hansen to go on lap two to cover the Australian Supercar driver. Van Gisbergen overtook Hansen at turn two after Hansen rejoined the main track. Hansen taking his joker gave Blomqvist the lead.
Despite making a mistake in his joker lap Blomqvist held onto the lead from Van Gisbergen to take the win.
Hansen spent the race holding off Henrik Krogstad and Marius Bermingrud to finish third. Krogstad finished fourth and Bermingrud fifth.
Missing out on the final from semi-final two was Matvey Furahzkin and Fail Race.
The Dall’olmo brothers took the wins in the two esport specialist semi-finals. This time out it was Killian who took the final win ahead of Quentin. Thrid place went to John Harris ahead of Lukas Mateja and Tommi Hallman.
Van Gisbergen maintains the championship lead on 55 points with Timmy Hansen in second on 49 and Blomqvist moving up to third with 40 points.
For the esport racers Quentin Dall’olmo leads with 25 points, two points ahead of Killian Dall’olmo. Mateja is third with 18 points.
