The Team

Alex Crowther

"I started Overtake Motorsport in 2015 with a simple goal. To find, develop and nurture future motorsport journalism superstars.

I’m delighted that we’ve assembled a cracking team of writers, all who have bright and extensive careers awaiting them."

Charli Andrews

“I can’t remember when my passion for Motorsport sparked, but I do know I have my Grandad and my Dad to blame for it! Sundays always involved a roast dinner eaten in front of a race!

However I remember exactly where my OBSESSION for the sport began! 2009 and Jenson Button - what an incredible year! I loved every minute and have been hooked ever since.

But my passion has now gone beyond F1. I love all forms of motorsport - two wheels or four, electric powered or fuel - and spend as much time beside a race track as possible! You’ll often see me wandering around a soggy Snetterton circuit!

“I’ve loved motorsports for a very long time. It started with F1, moved into junior formulae and now I’m well and truly an endurance racing girl.

I’m actually a trained forensic chemist, but I’ve traded my lab coat for an iPad following an interesting year in 2010. Long story short, illness meant I had to rethink my science-y career goals.

So now I want to bring people closer to the sport they love through social media and journalism. If you told 15-year-old me that I’d end up writing motorsport articles and tweeting for a living I’d have laughed in your face, but life’s funny like that.”

"I first fell in love with motorsport back in 1992 when Nigel Mansell won the world championship with Williams.  Since then, my love for it has grown and grown!

I have been lucky enough to attend several Formula 1 events, cementing my love for the sport.

I work for Reuters and as part of my job I get to write about Formula 1, this sparked my love for reporting and wanted to see how far I could take it.  I joined Overtake as their British Formula 3 correspondent bringing you all the action on and off the track from the country’s premier single seater racing series."

“My love for motorsport started when I was taken to my first Autograss meeting when I was 10 years old. From then on my passion for the sport as a whole grew, but I do have a particular soft spot for any category that involves a bit of ‘dirt’.”

Sophie Gill
Young Racer & Guest Writer

“My love for Motorsport began as a toddler, after watching the film Cars over and over again. For my 4th birthday my parents bought me a quad bike which I loved.

Four years later, aged eight, I decided I wanted something even faster; so my dad took me to my local indoor kart track and I fell in love with it! For my 10th birthday, I got my own kart and loved it even more!

Now, age thirteen, I still have the need for speed and kart regulary, and after visiting Autosport magazine's headquarters in London through Dare To Be Different (a group started by Susie Wolff to encourage more girls into motorsport) three times, I also caught the journalism bug. I hope you will enjoy reading my column.”

“Motorsport has been part of me since birth. Growing up watching cars go at insane speed fascinated me and made me fell in love with the sport. Now, the dream is to work and make a living in the industry I love, as well as getting the full experience as a Motorsport journalist.”

I’m a third year sports journalism student, but a writer for many Motorsports sites as a journalist, freelance or reporter. With Overtake Motorsports, my role is providing fortnight features and opinion pieces surrounding the hottest topics within Motorsport.”

"I'm a huge fan of all forms of motorsport. If it's got an engine in it, I like it.

I was brought up watching Formula 1 every week from a very young age and as such, the bug has stuck!

Whilst I watch and take interest in a lot of different categories, Formula 1 is my main passion and I can't believe I am now writing articles for my favourite sport!"

Formula E Correspondent

"FormulaFanGirl...yep, that's me!
I am a HUGE fan of motorsport; especially Formula 1 & Formula E!

I began watching F1 thanks to my mum and have been hooked ever since, attending my first Grand Prix in 2018 and two booked for 2019, plus I’ll attending Pre-Season testing in the Red Bull Racing garage!

Formula E is a new passion of mine but I’m absolutely loving it and can’t wait to get stuck in with all the action!"

“I've lived with the motorsport bug for my whole life. At least I think I have. I can't actually remember the time I caught it. But I can testify it's a hard one to kill because you fall in everlasting love with it. The word obsession comes to mind.

F1 was my baby as a kid and still is, but my passion and knowledge has only grown more as I've become more aware of the wider motorsport world, to the dismay of my family and friends. This broadening of horizons is reflected in the series I cover. IndyCar and British Touring Cars are chalk and cheese, yet both are awesome.”

Henry Kelsall
IndyCar Correspondent

"Like most Motorsport fans, I was gripped by Formula 1 at a relatively young age, back in 2011. Since then I have been hooked, and slowly started to watch more series such as MotoGP, Formula E and my favourite, IndyCar.

Away from motorsport, I have an enthusiasm for railways, so am often dabbling between watching a race and volunteering at a local heritage railway.

Although, it is handy with the time difference between IndyCar and the UK!”

Marlon Harms
DTM Correspondent

"Motorsport is something very special to me. It's my dad's fault actually. So, thanks dad.
I've loved motorsport for as long as I can remember. Always watching Formula 1 and DTM together, our Sunday tradition.
In 2012 I went to Zandvoort for the first time. That was the moment I knew I wanted to work in this world. From then on I started watching and learning about other series as well. Mostly junior series got my attention, and besides that also GT racing. But, because my first live race was DTM, that'll stay my favourite."
