This year has had some amazing moments that stand out to me, from Williams’ epic start at the British Grand Prix to Pietro Fittipaldi coming back from a broken wrist to win his first Formula 3 rookie podium in Monza.
The stand out moment for me, though, has to be Sebastian Buemi battling to get past Bruno Senna at Battersea Park in the Formula E finale.
The entire final race of the first Formula E season was something to be remembered. The inaugural championship came down to the final race and, with rain in qualifying, the championship leaders were far further back on the grid than they would like.
After a last minute penalty to Stephane Sarrazin, home favourite Sam Bird won the race. The atmosphere in the crowd at the podium as Bird came out was extraordinary.
But if I had to pick one moment from the race, I would have to choose the battle between championship contender Buemi and Mahindra Racing’s Senna.
Buemi qualified behind Senna but got ahead of the Brazilian during the race, only to spin and let him past. The rest of the race Buemi attempted to inch his way past Senna, lunging and lurching his e.dams around the Mahindra, but he was unable to get past.
Watching the race from the podium was an incredible experience. Listening to the crowd of fans ooh and ah at every move and energy in Battersea Park was brilliant.
Failing to get past Senna cost Buemi the championship. Rival Nelson Piquet beat him by a single point.
This is my motorsport moment of 2015.
