JamSport Racing confirm Grundy as driver

JamSport Racing have announced Tom Grundy as their second confirmed driver for the Renault UK Clio Cup. The eighteen year old will be teaming up with Ant Whorton-Eales when the championship kicks off in April.

Grundy debuted last year with a strong performance throughout the season, including challenging for podiums at Silverstone and Brands Hatch GP, put Grundy eleventh in the 2015 championship.

The 18 year old will partner Whorton-Eales, 2015 title protagonist, who was announced last month after news JamSport would partner with BTCC race team, Team Hard.

Describing 2015 as a “learning curve”, Grundy is sure continuing with JamSport is the right path.

“We built a great relationship together and made big strides every time out,” he said. “At Silverstone and Brands Hatch we were right up there towards the front fighting with the more experienced names.

“JamSport is also in the middle of its own very exciting expansion plans and with Ant coming on board as well I am totally convinced this is the place to be for 2016.”

“Tom was one of the most exciting names to watch in the UK Clio Cup grid in 2015,” JamSport team principal, Jamie Going, said. “He has massive potential and could be the ‘one to watch’ this coming season. Certainly in Tom and Ant we have already got a terrific pair of team-mates in place even before we announce the rest of our driver line-up.”

Renaultsport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes added: “It’s great to see Tom returning to our grid for 2016 – he was certainly one of the more colourful characters in the paddock and that extends to some of the terrific liveries his car appeared in! This will only be JamSport’s second full season in the UK Clio Cup but, even in a championship as fiercely competitive as this they are rapidly gaining recognition as a team who can compete at the very front. It will be fascinating to see how their season unfolds…”
