Team Aguri has decided to drop driver Nathanael Berthon three races into the second season of Formula E. This comes after two straight races of not scoring points despite scoring points in the opening round of the season in Beijing. Even though after being dropped by the team Berthon is still determined to continue his career in Formula E.
“I am determined, more than ever, to continue my career in Formula E, and I would like to thank the Team Aguri for giving me a start in the series.”
Berthon is expected to have signed a contract to race in the World Endurance Championship. Berthon is no stranger to endurance racing after stints with Murphy Prototypes and Kolles in the European Le Mans Series.
Expected to take Berthons place at Team Aguri is Mexican Salvador Duran, who already raced for the team in season one scoring 13 points for the team. Duran tested with Aguri after season one but would eventually join the now defunct Trulli team to only leave after a breach in contract. Duran has made a point to have a seat before the Mexico ePrix his home race.
The only other candidate that seems to be in contention for the seat is Sakon Yamamoto. Yamamoto tested for Team Aguri back in June and also participated in a Formula E show run in Japan earlier in the year.
