David Dickenson is returning to the UK Clio Cup scene with Team Pyro. The Irishman has been competing in the Italian and European Clio Cup championships but will now return to Britain with the reigning champion outfit.
Dickenson drove in the championship in 2008 and 2009 before moving to the European championships. Last year, he competed in the British club level Clio Cup Series with Pyro, coming a strong runner up.
The Irishman hopes his experience in the other series will give him a good chance in his return to UK Clio Cup.
“I’d hope I can come in and be inside the top six with a chance of a few podium results too,” he said. “On saying that I know how difficult it is and the quality of drivers coming into the UK Clio Cup this season in particular is extremely high.”
Team Pyro have already announced 2014 champion Mike Bushell on the team, and 17-year-old Josh Price, and think Dickenson will be a good combination with the pair of them.
“We’ve built a very good relationship with David and seen him develop really well as a driver against some strong opposition,” said team Principal Mark Hunt. “With Mike and Josh among his team-mates, I am sure his competitive nature will help him achieve his strongest performances yet in 2016. I can see him being in with a real chance of podiums as the season progresses.”
