BMW’s Tom Blomqvist set the fastest time in the second day of DTM testing at Hockenheim. The Team RBM driver set a lap time of 1:33.214. He was followed by the Audis of Mattias Ekstrom and Mike Rockenfeller. Ekstrom happy with his performance said: “We had a great day, we did a lot of laps and had some new parts tested which proved to be good, so we found a couple of hundreds today.”
BMW occupied 4th and 5th with Marco Wittman taking the former and Antonio Felix Da Costa the latter. Audi’s Jamie Green came 6th. Mercedes once again devoted more time to tuning than lap times as they fielded the same lineup of drivers as yesterday. Maximillian Gotz was the highest placed Mercedes in seventh followed by the Audi of Mortara in eighth.
Lucas Auer and rookie Esteban Ocon came ninth and tenth for Mercedes with Bruno Spengler’s BMW 11th and Daniel Juncadella’s Mercedes setting the worst time of the day after the Spaniard crashed upon pit lane entry. The test was very tight knit as only just over half a second separated the top 10
