Podiums and punctures for Motorbase at Thruxton

Motorbase had a successful weekend at Thruxton, taking home two wins between tyre punctures.

The Motorbase duo started the weekend with strong performances in the free practice sessions on the Saturday morning, running at the sharp end of the field, but when qualifying came they could only manage P8 and P14.

The less than perfect starting position didn’t put off Andrew Jordan though. The Pirtek driver pushed his way up the field, benefiting from tyre problems for cars ahead of him to finish on the podium.

Team mate Mat Jackson had the opposite luck.

With the finishing positions determining the starting positions for the second race of the weekend, it looked like Jordan could push for an even better result in the next race, whilst Jackson was going to have a challenge to make up places from the back of the grid.

Both drivers rose to the challenge, with Jordan making up the places to take the top step of the podium, and Jackson managing to finish inside the points even from the back of the grid.

The luck was flipped in the final race of the day. The reverse grid gave Jackson the perfect opportunity to fight for the top spot, and he did, taking his second win of the season, whilst a puncture put a premature end to Jordan’s weekend.

Motorbase were definitely one of the biggest winners leaving Thruxton, with three podiums and two race wins in a dramatic, mixed up weekend. The team head to Oulton Park next month third in the championship.
