WDE Motorsport have joined the ever growing list of teams lining up to join the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior Championship.
The team, which has competed in junior racing before, has praised the new series, saying it’s exactly what teenagers head into junior racing for.
“I think it’s going to be great for junior motor racing in Britain,” said the team principal, Wayne Eason.
“We also know from experience that the product is excellent and how much it can help bring on a driver in terms of engineering ability and race craft. I prefict that UK Clio Cup Junior is going to boom.”
Will Fewekes said: “Quickly, the senior UK Clio Cup teams are queuing up to join our new Junior grid in 2017 – there has been terrific interest from youngsters and their parents both within the BTCC’s supporting categories and further afield. Likewise, from a number of teams looking to rejoin the Renault fold or who are clearly turned on by the value and prestige our Junior concept offers.”
WDE Motorsport has a history of bringing junior drivers into their Clio Cup team, including Charlie Ladell, winner of the first ever Fiesta Junior title.
The team will be one of many competing at the sampler day at the end of October.
