Maximum Motorsport: The Story and the Stats

The Story

After a somewhat disappointing debut season last year, Stewart Lines returned to the BTCC in 2016 with Maximum Motorsport. A pointless season in 2015 set the bar low for an improvement in 2016. Unfortunately for Lines, that improvement wouldn’t come.

Lines spent most of the season at the back end of the field. The trouble would often start with poor qualifying, when the Maximum Motorsport driver was rarely able to put his car higher than the back couple of rows of the grid. It left the Midlands driver with a lot of work to do during the race, something that didn’t come easily.

It would be another pointless season for Lines. Though he did come close to the points on a few occasions, the Midlands driver would never quite be able to duck and weave up into fifteenth position. The highest he would manage would be a seventeenth at Knockhill, actually worse than his best ever finish in 2015, a sixteenth place.

2016 would come with less retirements for Lines though. The Maximum Motorsport racer would finish in every race but three (once each at Brands Hatch, Donington Park, and Oulton Park). Between that and his nearness to the points on multiple occasions, Lines was actually the highest ranked driver to finish the season without points, taking thirty second of thirty six drivers
