Jordan joins West Surrey Racing

Andy Jordan has signed a multi-year deal with West Surrey Racing, and will join the team for the 2017 British Touring Car Championship. Jordan will race with the team for the next two years, under the Pirtek Racing banner.

Jordan announced he was parting ways with his former team Motorbase Performance last month, saying that a deal could not be done with the team.

Now, he switches to the successful WSR team. Pirtek Racing, who sponsors the Litchfield driver, will follow him to WSR in 2017.

“I’m incredibly excited about joining WSR, who have been one of the outstanding teams in the BTCC for the past 20 years,” said Jordan. “To have signed a multi-year deal is fantastic as it gives myself and Pirtek the continuity to build something really special with WSR over the next two seasons.”

Jordan has never raced in a rear-wheel-drive car, but expects to be at the sharp end of the field with the BMW in 2017. He will begin his winter testing programme later this month, and Jordan says he’s looking forward to learning over the winter break.

“Andrew is one of the fastest and most successful drivers in the BTCC and crucially knows how to win a championship,” said team principal Dick Bennetts. “Being able to announce this exciting news in November enables us to make the best possible use of the time available between now and the start of the 2017 season and kick off our winter testing programme with Andrew before the end of the month. The team have been working hard on the development of the BMW to make sure we’re title contenders again next year.”

WSR are expected to announce more drivers in the future.
