Kart-Star Brandshaw impresses in Clio Cup Junior test

Henry Surtees Jarting Challenge winner, Callum Bradshaw, impressed in his first run in a Renault UK Clio Cup Junior car.

Bradshaw has seen plenty of success in karting, a twice runner-up in the World Championship level in the Junior X30 category, and now he plans to take that success to cars. The fifteen year old tested at Snetterton, under guidance of former Clio Cup Champion Phil Glew.

“He did a superb job – he responded in the right way to the feedback I was giving him and it was nice to work with a young driver who listened so well,” he said.

“His pace was very obvious and that’s impressive considering it was effectively a case of straight out of rear-wheel-drive karts and into a front-wheel drive racing car.”

Bradshaw isn’t confirmed as a Clio Cup Junior driver just yet, but plans to move into car racing in 2017. The teenager says the Clio Cup is definitely an option.

“The UK Clio Cup Junior test was a really good experience – the car was just brilliant,” Bradshaw said. “It took a short while to get used to the extra height and width compared to a kart but I felt I started to adapt quite quickly. A move to cars is on my radar and this is definitely a category I’m now looking at.”

Bradshaw is one of a number of youngsters who have tested the car, and feedback has so far been all good. A high calibre of drivers are expected to be on the grid by the time the championship starts in June.
