Carlin have signed their very own Flying Finn for the 2017 British Formula 4 season. 16 year old Patrik Pasma will join the British championship after spending the last season racing in multiple championships.
The Finnish teenager has been racing in the BRSCC Formula Ford championship, where he came seventh in the Post 89 National Class, and the Triple Crown event, which saw him race at three British tracks.
“I’m pleased to be racing this season for Carlin in British F4,” Pasma said. “It is obviously a good step for me to take and it is a competitive championship with great circuits and a strong field. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team.”
Carlin was the team to beat in 2016, with all four of their drivers showing strong performances throughout the season and three battling for the title by the final round at Brands Hatch. 2016 champion, Max Fewtrell, was one of their drivers.
“We are pleased to welcome Patrik to Carlin for the upcoming season in the F4 British Championship,” said racing director Trevor Carlin. “Patrik has already been testing with the team and has been working really well in both his approach to the season and also getting used to a new car. Patrik will no doubt make a great addition to Carlin and we look forward to the season getting underway with him on board in April.”
Pasma is the first driver to be announced by Carlin. The team ran four cars last season but it’s yet to be confirmed how many more drivers are to be announced.
