20ten with Team Pyro have signed their first driver for the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior championship. The team signed Max Marzorati, the first driver to confirm they’ll be joining the series.
The 16-year-old will be making his first move into car racing after previously competing in trails bikes and national level karting.
Marzorati has tested the Clio Cup Junior car on a number of occasions and chose the 20Ten with Team Pyro team due to their success in the senior series.
“I’ve sampled the UK Clio Cup Junior car a couple of times now and it is just phenomenal,” he said. “I love driving it for its performance but also for what it tis teaching me in terms of front-wheel-drive skills for the future.”
“We are pleased to have Max joining the team for the new Renault UK Clio Cup Junior championship,” said team principal Mark Hunt. “Early testing shows he is an exciting prospect and definitely one to watch.”
Marzorati will head into the championship with support from Renault Retail Group, who are aiming to get closer to the fans and customers.
The teenager, unsurprisingly, is not a finished product, but helping him take his first step on the ladder is, according to championship manager Will Feweks, one of the key features of the new junior championship.
“We are delighted to welcome Max as the first driver onto the new Renault UK Clio Cup Junior grid in 2017,” he said. “He is clearly very motivated and it will be interesting to see how a driver with some tidy results in club-level motorsport progresses – driver development is an integral part of the UK Clio Cup Junior.”
Marzorati will continue testing with the team before the championship begins in the summer.
