Buemi and Prost confirmed at e.dams until 2019

Renault e.dams has confirmed Sebastien Buemi and Nico Prost will remain at the team until 2019, amongst rumours Nissan will replace Renault next season.

The reigning teams’ champion opted not to change a line-up that has been in place since Formula E began.

“We have a strong pair of drivers that have proven highly successful to date,” said team co-owner Alain Prost. “Therefore, it is very important for us to maintain stability in the team, given that we are already working on the development of the car for season 5.

“The harmony between Sebastien and Nicolas, both on a personal and a technical level, is also a very good gauge for success and we took this into account. These things combined contributes towards the achievement of the team and it was obvious to us that we wanted to remain in this direction.”

Last season, Nico Prost said he would move over to help his team mate win the championship if the opportunity occurred. He has indicated he would do the same this season.

Between them, Buemi and Prost have 14 FE wins and have secured the teams’ championship twice.

“The team has done an amazing job, and allowed me to have the best car on the grid,” said Buemi. “I could not ask for anything more. I look forward to continuing to fight hard and bring home more victories to my team.”

The push for stability comes amongst rumours that Nissan could replace Renault as e.dams’ manufacturer next season.

When asked if these talks worried him, Prost told Overtake Motorsport: “You never know what’s going to happen, but the team management sorted it out because we’ve got two firm two year contracts. We don’t really know what’s happening at the moment but, for us, it will just be a different sticker on the car.

Prost confirmed that, though his father is an advisor to Renault F1 team, he has no links to the specific manufacturer.
