Nick Heidfeld led a Mahindra one-two in the final practice ahead of his home ePrix. Heidfeld was just two hundredths of a second faster than team mate Felix Rosenqvist in second, with Maro Engel completing the top three.
Heidfeld set his fastest lap just 10 minutes into the 30 minute session and, though the top eight drivers were all split by half a second, nobody could beat the time.
A last minute lap from Buemi saw him top the times in FP1, but there was no repeat in the second practice. He could only manage ninth fastest, the team running into problems. Team mate Nico Prost was 14th fastest.
ABT also seemed to struggle in the second session. It looked like a more promising outing for Lucas Di Grassi. Despite almost running wide at the hairpin, Di Grassi ended the session fourth fastest. His morning ended with a practice start, but he couldn’t get the car moving from its grid spot. He was forced to leave the car on the grid and walk back to the pits.
All 20 drivers managed to steer clear of walls in the second session, promising a clean qualifying later in the day. Robin Frijns was once again almost the exception, spinning his car, but avoiding the barriers either side of the track.
