Fulk to make his Clio Cup debut at Rockingham

Zak Fulk is the latest young racer to jump straight to the senior Renault UK Clio Cup after testing in the junior car.

Fulk, who only turned 16 in May, will make his Clio Cup debut at Rockingham with Team Pyro.

“It’s a bit of a lead for me btu I’ve tested the UK Clio Cup car and really enjoy how it works around a circuit,” he said.

“Pyro have a great track record in the Clio Cup racing and I feel this is the championship you need to do to set yourself up for the future.

“I’m really looking forward to getting going at Rockingham.”

Fulk is one of a number of drivers who, having tested the Clio Cup Junior car, has decided to make the jump straight up to the senior series.

Bradly Burns has also opted to switch to the senior series after the start of the junior championship was postponed to September.

Unlike Burns, Fulk never confirmed a place in the junior championship, though did say the series was a brilliant concept.

“We very much welcome Zak to our grid, particularly as he has been working towards a deal for a while,” said championship manager Will Fewkes.

“It is also very exciting seeing another top name from karting choosing to go the Clio Cup route – whether it be our senior UK Clio Cup alongside the BTCC or the new UK Clio Cup Junior category for 14 to 17-year-old drivers which gets underway in September.”
