Sargeant not giving up title fight

Carlin’s Logan Sargeant is still hoping to bring the fight to team-mate Jamie Caroline in the title battle, despite being more than 80 points behind the championship leader.

Third in the standings, Sargeant is still focusing on his own championship rather than helping his team-mate take the title.

He may have only taken his first win of the year at Rockingham, but Sargeant has been at the sharp end of the field throughout the season, with eight podiums and nine fourth place finishes under his belt.

Heading into the penultimate round of the season, Sargeant is still mathematically in with a chance at the title, but admitted it will be hard to bring the fight to team-mate Caroline.

“Obviously we’ll give it everything we have to get to Jamie,” he told Overtake Motorsport. “It’s going to be tough but we’ll give it everything we have.”

Even if Sargeant doesn’t significantly close the gap to Caroline at Silverstone, the American could still play a part in the title fight by battling with his team-mate’s main title rival, Oscar Piastri.

“I’m close behind [Piastri] so that’s really good,” he said. “I’ll keep trying to rack up wins and go higher in the championship.”
