Year: First
Team: Arden
TERM ONE
Grade: B
Comment: The first half of the season was dotted with strong performances from Piastri, who took eight podiums including his maiden win at Oulton Park. But the results were relatively inconsistent, leaving him unable to challenge leader Caroline in the title right.
TERM TWO
Grade: A-
Comment: Piastri picked up the pace in the second half of the season. He took five more race wins in a determined effort to catch Caroline, though a difficult weekend at Rockingham effectively ruined his campaign.
Overall Grade: B+
Best moment of the season: Knockhill was the site of Piastri’s fifth win of the season, where he lead an Arden 1-2-3. He’d taken a race win in the first of four races at the Scottish circuit before a mechanical problem and contact interrupted his progress in races two and three. He bounced back with a dominant performance in race four.
Worst moment of the season: A disastrous Rockingham weekend ruined Piastri’s title fight. He retired from the opening race after engine problems and contact midway through the race. Race two wasn’t much better, when a strong drive on the opening lap of race two was undone when he was pushed wide by his title rival on race two, though Piastri still managed to climb up the field to take 10th. He retired again from race three after another collision.
