The 2018 British Touring Car Championship will feature a 60-mile double points race at Snetterton as part of the series’ 60th anniversary celebrations.
The “Diamond Double” race will replace the usual third race at the Norfolk track and will be around 20 laps long. Cars will run without the usual success ballast, and the grid will be decided by a separate qualifying session.
“There will be anumber of additional activities to celebrate our 60th anniversary throughout 2018 which will be revealed over the next few months,” said series boss Alan Gow.
“We believe this 60-mile race, roughly double the distance of a normal BTCC encounter, will add a further sporting twist to what will be a fantastic and memorable season.”
The other nine rounds of the championship will follow the traditional format.
