Reigning BTCC Champion Colin Turkington took a dominant Race 2 victory despite a mid-race safety car.
Team BMW’s Turkington had a good start, taking the lead from polesitter Dan Cammish before turn 1.
From there, Turkington kept a comfortable lead and wasn’t challenged for lead despite a safety car to recover Nic Hamilton’s stricken Volkswagen after spinning at Coppice.
Cammish had kept second place until Rory Butcher was able to get past into the final chicane on lap 4.
Butcher was able to keep second throughout the rest of the race, eventually finishing two seconds behind Turkington.
Cammish struggled to keep pace throughout the race with the 60kg worth of performance ballast unsurprisingly having a detrimental effect on his race pace.
Tom Ingram and Tom Oliphant both got past Cammish in quick succession just before the safety car came out.
After the restart Oliphant kept the pressure in Tom Ingram, eventually passing him for the final podium position on the penultimate lap.
After starting 14th, Ash Sutton charged through the field and was able to pass both Dynamics Honda’s of Matt Neal and Cammish, eventually finishing fifth.
Cammish was able to stay ahead of team mate Neal to finish in sixth and seventh respectively.
Adam Morgan, Stephen Jelley and Josh Cook rounded out the top ten.
Ollie Jackson came home 11th with Chris Smiley in 12th.
Smiley will also start on pole position for the reverse grid race this evening.
Tom Chilton, Michael Crees and Carl Boardley complete the points scorers.
