ART Grand Prix driver Alex Smolyar has been served a post race five second time penalty, stripping the Russian driver of his maiden victory.

Sunday at Silverstone has gone from jubilation to heartbreak for Alex Smolyar as Stewards announce that the Russian driver will be stripped of his maiden Formula 3 victory.

Smolyar has been awarded a five second time penalty for changing direction down the straights, hoping to break the tow to Beckmann. A time penalty has also been served (post race) to Sophia Floersch for forcing the Carling Buzz of Cameron Das off the race circuit during the race.

As a result of his time penalty, Smolyar now finishes in P6 with second place Beckmann inheriting the victory followed by Novalak and Peroni.
