Butcher takes victory after Cook disqualified

Rory Butcher took victory at round 7 of the BTCC season after original winner Josh cook was disqualified for an apparent ride height infringement.

Cook bogged down at the start at a dropping down to fourth by the first corner, but was able to put himself into second by lap 3 after making one of the moves of the season on Colin Turkington into Druids.

However, before he was able to challenge Butcher for the lead the safety car was brought out for Ollie Brown after he crashed at Old Hall Corner.

Once the safety car period was over, Cook set about overtaking Butcher with both drivers going side-by-side through Old Hall and Cascades before with Cook eventually taking the lead.

From there Cook dominated taking on track victory by over 2 seconds from Butcher.

Dan Cammish completed the podium in third closely followed by Jake Hill in the FK2 Spec Honda Civic.

Reigning champion Turkington struggled for pace throughout the race eventually dropping to fifth by the flag ahead of Cook’s team mate Tom Chilton.

Tom Ingram set the fastest lap of the race on his way to seventh ahead of Adam Morgan and Ash Sutton.

Chris Smiley rounded out the top 10 with fellow Excelr8 team mate Senna Proctor in 11th.

Michael Crees completed a good day for the Honda Civic by finishing 12th with Tom Oliphant in 13th.

Ollie Jackson and Bobby Thompson completed the points scorers.

Cook’s disqualification means that Jake Hill was promoted to the podium in third with Andy Neate taking the final point in 15th.
