FIA Formula 3: Dennis Hauger secures pole position in Barcelona

Prema’s Dennis Hauger took his maiden pole position in the FIA Formula 3, sealing the gap 0.006s ahead of Jack Doohan.

The first qualifying session of the first round of the FIA Formula 3 in Jerez started well for Dennis Hauger. 

The Norwegian driver successfully tops the session beating Trident’s Jack Doohan in second fastest by a crucial eight-thousandths of a second.

While the reigning champion of Formula Renault, Victor Martins struggled his way up to third fastest with an incredible 1:32.965 as he started from the back of the grid in 23rd.

HWA Racelab’s Matteo Nannini finished in fourth fastest with a 1:33.113 just seconds before the session ended, followed by the Mercedes Junior driver Frederik Vesti in fifth for ART Grand Prix.

Olli Caldwell Managed to end the session in sixth for Prema ahead of the second Trident driver Clement Novalak in seventh, leaving last year’s FIA Formula 3 third runner-up Logan Sargeant in eight for Charouz Racing.

David Schumacher ended the first qualifying session of the 2021 season in ninth for Trident as Caio Collet rounded up the top ten with a 1:33.305 for the second MP Motorsport car.

The qualifying session results will be used as the starting grid for Race 3 on Sunday as Carlin’s Jonny Edgar will be starting from the pole position in Race 1  from the reverse grid following the new format for the weekend.

Juan Manuel Correa will start the race on Saturday behind the rookie, followed by Roman Stanek in the third position for Hitech and Arthur Leclerc in fourth for Prema. The first race of the season will begin at 10.35 local time in Barcelona with the new faces of the FIA Formula 3.
