Trident’s Jack Doohan claimed his maiden Formula 3 victory in the last race of the French Grand Prix after snatching the race lead from Dennis Hauger.

Championship leader Dennis Hauger started the race in P2 ahead of the race winner Jack Doohan in P4 behind MP Motorsport’s Victor Martin, who claimed P3 in qualification.

Before Doohan takes the lead on lap 15, Dennis Hauger has been leading the race consistently as pole-sitter Frederik Vesti dropped a few positions to Dennis Hauger in taking advantage of a great start.

Hauger quickly built up a 2.5-second gap to Frederik Vesti on Lap 4 as the battle continues behind him with Clement Novalak and Jack Doohan trying to get past Victor Martins, who’s currently sitting on P3.

On lap 7, Doohan lunges past Martins down the main straight and takes the third position from him before he continued to take his opportunity to snatch the race lead away from Dennis Hauger as the two drivers go side by side on lap 15.

Doohan claimed his first FIA F3 victory with Trident shortly after hunting Dennis Hauger in second fastest for Prema Racing with only a 1.5s gap to the race leader.

MP Motorsport’s Caio Collet made it to third despite yesterday’s heartbreak in retiring from the race.

The Brazilian driver managed to dive down on the inside of his teammate Victor Martins to claim his second podium inside the championship, preventing Martins from securing a triple podium in his home race as he finished in fourth fastest.

Second Trident’s driver Clement Novalak was fifth fastest, with Frederik Vesti in sixth for ART and Ayumu Iwasa in seventh fastest for Hitech.

Last FIA Formula 3 race winner Alexander Smolyar ended the race in eighth fastest with his teammate Juan Manuel Correa down in ninth, closing the day for ART inside the top 10.

Hitech’s Jak Crawford took the final point in tenth in the last race of the French Grand Prix in Paul Ricard.

FIA Formula 3 will be back on racing on the third round of the season in Spielberg, which takes place in the Red Bull Ring starting from 2 – 4 July.
