The Trident’s rookie Zane Maloney secured his first-ever F3 pole position in a red flag disrupted qualifying session, beating his more experienced teammate Roman Stanek to second with less than a tenth.

Maloney made significant progress throughout his performance in adapting to the F3 machinery, applying the learnings that he had earned throughout the in-season testing, as he looks more comfortable with the car.

At the same time, Stanek improved on his personal best to the second-fastest, with just 007s off the top time, as PREMA Racing’s Jak Crawford took the final spot inside the top three.

ART Grand Prix’s Gregoire Saucy qualified in fourth, ahead of the second PREMA Racing driver, Oliver Bearman, who settled fifth.

The winners from the last round in Bahrain, ART’s Victor Martins and Hitech’s Isack Hadjar, took their starting position in sixth and seventh fastest, respectively.

Carlin’s Zak O’Sullivan finished in eighth, ahead of the second-year driver Caio Collet in ninth for MP Motorsport. His teammate Kush Maini completed the top ten in the qualifying session.

The Sprint Race will occur at 10:35 local times, with the Franco Colapinto starting from the reversed pole.
