Felipe Drugovich led from start-to-finish at Monaco to take his second FIA Formula 2 feature race victory in a row.
The MP Motorsport driver withstood race-long pressure from championship rival Theo Pourchiaire to triumph by 0.8 seconds, with Hitech GP’s Juri Vips finishing third.
Carlin’s Liam Lawson and DAMS’s Roy Nissany both were forced to start from the pitlane after stalling on the formation lap.
Drugovich led away from pole and quickly pulled out a two-second advantage.
Virtuosi’s Jack Doohan ran third, with Vips and race one winner Dennis Hauger close behind.
Pourchaire closed the gap to Drugovich in the early on, with the pair exchanging fastest laps before making their mandatory pitstops during the first of two safety car periods – caused by a crash at the final corner for Amaury Cordeel.
Despite both having slow tyre changes, Drugovich remained ahead of Pourchaire, while Doohan dropped behind Vips and Hauger slipped back to seventh.
Racing resumed for one more lap before the safety car was deployed again after a move from Lawson into the hairpin resulted in MPs’ Clement Novalak ending in the barriers for the second time this weekend.
Pourchaire applied pressure on Drugovich for the remainder of the race, with Vips unable to keep pace with the lead duo.
Doohan was fourth ahead of Charouz’s Enzo Fittipaldi, with Hitech’s Marcus Armstrong sixth. Hauger came home seventh ahead of Prema’s Jehan Daruvala and Carlin’s Logan Sargeant. Marina Sato rounded out the top 10.
Ayuma Iwasa and Calan Williams retired in a late collision, while Lawson slowed with an issue and also failed to finish.
